Activities to date

. First Consensus Report on Medical Uses of Aspirin was officially launched at a Press conference at Karachi Press Club on March 2, 1999.Ten thousand copies of this report published through the courtesy of Reckitt & Coleman Pharmaceuticals were distributed among members of the medical profession all over Pakistan.

- Aspirin boxes were installed in major CCUs and Emergency of main hospitals. For almost two years they were regularly filled with aspirin tablets for use in emergency through the courtesy of M/s Reckitt & Coleman.

CME Programme

In order to create awareness and promote medical uses of Aspirin, seminar were organized n the following cities :

- Seminar on Medical Uses of Aspirin organized at Karachi on April17th 1999 in collaboration with Pakistan Cardiac Society, Pakistan Society of Physicians and College of Family Medicine Pakistan.

- Meeting held at Rawalpindi on March 27^th in collaboration with Rawalpindi-Islamabad PMA.

- Meeting at Quetta on July 25^th 1999.

- Organized First National Conference on Medical Uses of Aspirin at King ‘Edward Medical College Lahore on October16th 1999.

- Lecture on Medical Uses of Aspirin during cardiology conference at Multan on November 22^nd 1999.

- State of the Art lecture on Medical Uses of Aspirin at annual day meeting of Shalamar Hospital Lahore on May 4^th 1999.

- Meeting at Peshawar on April 21^st 2000.

- Meeting at Swat on April 22^nd 2000.

- Meeting at Larkana in collaboration with Larkana PMA on July 30^th 2000.

- Meeting at Sukkur in collaboration with Sukkur PMA on July 30^th 2000.

- Meeting at Faisalabad in collaboration with Pakistan Cardiac Society on October 28^th 2000.

- Organized 2^nd National Conference on Medical Uses of Aspirin at Aga Khan University Hospital Karachi on March 12^th 2001.

- Published a book on Aspirin "Aspirin the life saving miracle drug" Authored by Dr. Maqbool H Jafrary and Mr. Shaukat Ali Jawaid in December 2001.

- Published, revised and updated second consensus report on Medical Uses of Aspirin in December 2001.

- Organized seminar on Medical Uses of Aspirin at Abbotabad on October 7th, 2002 in collaboration with Department of Cardiology, Ayub Medical College, Abbotabad.

- November 20th 2021. PAF launched its revised Guidelines on Medical Uses of Aspirin during CARDIOCON 2021 at Karachi. Breakfast Session on Aspirin was also held during the conference held from November 19-21, where Prof. Javed Akram Vice Chancellor of UHS Lahore was the guest speaker who talked about “Aspirin- a Wonder Drug”.

- March 8th 2022. PAF in collaboration with Indus Medical College Hospital TANDO MUHAMMAD KHAN (SINDH) organized a Session on Medical Uses of Aspirin at IMCH campus. Dr. Abdul Rab Sheikh Consultant Cardiologist from Hyderabad and Dr. Fakhrunnisa Waheed Assistant Prof. of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Indus Medical College were the two speakers. The meeting was chaired by Prof. Feroz Memon Principal of IMC.

- May 8th 2022. Breakfast Session on Aspirin Update during the Third Annual Conference of Pakistan Society of Internal Medicine (PSIM) at Karachi. It was jointly chaired by Prof. Abdus Samad, Prof. Shahryar Sheikh, Prof. Feroze Memon and Prof. Shahbaz Kureshi, President of Pakistan Aspirin Foundation. Dr. Fawad Farooq Professor of Cardiology at NICVD was the guest speaker who made a presentation on “Aspirin a Wonder Drug in preventing Cardiovascular Events”.
